The Art of Dealing with People is all about the science of human behaviour.
That “the People” are the ones we should be very careful when dealing with, as if anything goes wrong while handling their ego, we might actually hurt their self esteem, which is not a good thing.
Let’s know more about ‘ego’.
Hmmm…ego never seemed like this.
Because whenever we came across the word “ego” we thought of something very negative. But it should not be the case with it, as we all are egocentric and that’s a good thing. Ego here in this context is about self representation. We want others to show us respect, give us the sense of accomplishment and the attention we deserve and sometimes need (in case of low self-esteem).
Those with low self-esteem are ego hunger. Now this, can be compared with food hunger.
As to satisfy food hunger, we need food to eat, so that we can be healthy.
Similarly to satisfy ego hunger, we need respect, approval, appreciation, so that we can maintain that level of self-esteem, which enables us to like ourselves and lack of which will result in depression because of low self-esteem.
So, to conclude we can say ego is not bad, as we all have it, and if we can learn to handle it, we can master the art of dealing with people.
